Scary, Spooky + Barbie

By Eric Langenbacher

Another suddenly chilly but festive Halloween has come and gone in our community. I am happy to announce the winners of the annual Burleith Halloween Decorating Contest, sponsored by the Burleith Citizens Association. This year, we have decided on one winner and three runners-up.

Thanks to everyone who made our neighborhood so festive! Gift cards will be distributed to the winners very soon. Thanks also to this year’s judges: Adam Langenbacher, Lauren Dailey, Pat Gordon, and Julian Müller-Kaler.

the winner ($50) once again is 1800 35th Street on the corner of S and 35th. The decorations were as impressive as ever, with an au courant Barbie theme.

Our first runner up ($25) is 3620 Whitehaven Parkway. The judges were especially impressed with the spooky projections on the facade.

Our next runner-up ($25) is 3814 T Street, for the many scary components and great use of house and garden space.

Our third runner-up ($25) is 3817 T Street for the sheer spectacle, outstanding lighting, and, of course, the massive skeleton.
