Burleith Special Interest Groups (BSIGs) are a valued benefit of BCA membership, designed to strengthen community bonds by bringing together neighbors who share common interests. Established several years ago, BSIGs provide Burleith residents with opportunities to socialize, learn, and collaborate in a friendly and welcoming environment. To express interest in joining, leading, or proposing a new BSIG, contact the BCA at membership@burleith.org or complete this form

Dining Club

The Dining Club is a social group for BCA members who enjoy culinary experiences, from potluck gatherings and progressive dinners to outings at local restaurants. Meetings are typically held on the first Friday of each month at 6:30 pm, offering a chance to connect over good food and conversation. Linda Brooks is the current group coordinator. Book Club

Burleith’s love of literature is evident in its two active Book Clubs. The first club, established in 2009, quickly gained popularity, prompting the creation of a second club in 2024 to accommodate an increasing number of readers. Both clubs meet monthly to discuss a diverse selection of books and foster lively literary discussions. Due to high demand, both clubs are currently full; however, a third club may form if there is sufficient interest and leadership. Express your interest here. More

Garden Club

With roots dating back to 1926, the Burleith Garden Club has played a significant role in enhancing neighborhood beauty and fostering community spirit. After being revived in 2015, the club is once again seeking leadership to inspire a new generation of gardeners. Express your interest here. More →

Hiking Group

The Hiking Group was perfect for those who enjoy exploring the outdoors. The group organized monthly hikes in the DC area and nearby regions. It is currently on hiatus and looking for enthusiastic leaders to help neighbors discover local trails and parks. Express your interest here. More

Burleith History Group

The Burleith History Group was initially formed to celebrate the neighborhood’s 90th anniversary in 2013. The group contributed to important community projects, such as the 2014 restoration of the Daniel Boone Trail Marker on the front grounds of the Ellington School of the Arts (formerly Western High School), the 2015 restoration of Burleith’s historic fire call boxes, and the 2017 Images of America: Burleith, co-authored by Ross Schipper and Dwane Starlin. Dwane Starlin, past chair of the group, seeks members who would like to learn more about Burleith’s past as it enters its second century. Express your interest here. More →
