2017 Activities

  • In October, the group participated in a progressive dinner. Appetizers were served at the home of Jeanie Murphy, followed by the main dish and dessert at the home of Divya Swamy & Kishan Putta.  Dessert was supplied by Monica Irmler.
  • In September, the group met at the Casolare Restaurant at 2505 Wisconsin Avenue.
  • In June, the group met at La Piquette, a French Bistro at 3714 Macomb with good food and ambiance.
  • In May, the group met at the home of Linda Brooks and Ross Schipper for a pot luck dinner.
  • In April, the group met at the home of Jeanie Murphy for a pot luck dinner.
  • In February, the group met at Chef Geoff's on New Mexico Avenue.
  • In January, the group met at the home of Pat Davies for a pot luck dinner.

2016 Activities

  • In December, the group met at the home of Pat Scolaro for a standup holiday cocktail buffet.
  • In November, the group participated in a progressive dinner.  Appetizers were served at the home of Jeannie Murphy, followed by the main dish at the home of Linda Brooks and Ross Schipper, and finished with dessert at the home of Massa and Drew Dunnaville.
  • In June, the group met for a pot luck dinner at the home of Monica Irmler.
  • In May, the group met at the Barcelona Wine Bar and Restaurant.
  • In April, the group participated in a progressive dinner. Appetizers were served at the home of Linda Brooks and Ross Schipper, followed by the main dish at the home of Tess Martinez, and finished with dessert at the home of Pat Scolaro.
  • In March, the group met at the Sushi Restaurant in the Epicurean on the campus of Georgetown University.
  • In February, the group met at the home of Monique Wedderburn for a pot luck dinner.
  • In January, 10 members plus a dog and a cat met at the home of Pat Davies for a delicious pot luck dinner. 

2015 Activities

  • In December, 14 members met at the home of Pat Scolaro for a standup holiday cocktail buffet.
  • In November, 13 members participated in a progressive dinner. Appetizers were served at the home of Mary and Henry Meyer, followed by the main dish at the home of Linda Brooks and Ross Schipper, and finished with dessert at the home of Jeannette Murphy.
  • In October, 9 members met at the Palisades restaurant Et Voila! The outing was organized by Sheila Hegy.
  • In June, 10 members met for a pot luck dinner at the home of Tess Martinez.
  • In May, 9 members met for a pot luck dinner at the home of Monique Wedderburn.
  • In April, 9 members enjoyed a progressive dinner. The event began with appetizers (including delicious homemade May wine) at the home of May Vaughan. The group then progressed to the home of Monique Wedderburn for a delicious main dish of shrimp with mushrooms and rice.  The dessert course at the home of Pat Scolaro featured chocolate mousse, lemon squares, and a great assortment of dessert liqueurs.
  • In February, 10 members met for a pot luck dinner at the Hillandale home of Monica Irmler.
  • In January, 16 members met for a pot luck dinner at the home of Pat Davies in Forest Hills. Pat is a former Burleith resident who served as editor of the Burleith Bell until she moved to Forest Hills.

2014 Activities

  • In December, 17 members met at the home of Pat Scolaro for a standup holiday cocktail buffet.
  • In November, 9 members met at Shanghai Lounge (1734 Wisconsin Avenue). Arrangements were made by club member Betty Amato. The fare included happy fish, salt 'n pepper prawns, crispy beef, happy eggplant, kung pao chicken, garlic stir fried bok choy, cumin pork, and veggie fried rice. No one left the table hungry, and the food was fabulous.
  • In October, 5 members met for a pot luck dinner at the home of Linda Brooks and Ross Schipper. Linda provided the main dish, Får i Kål, the national dish of Norway.
  • In May, 7 members had an Italian Night celebrating spring by the canal at Il Canale restaurant (1063 31st Street).
  • In April, 10 members enjoyed a progressive dinner. The event began with appetizers at the home of Mary and Henry Meyer. They then walked to the home of Tess Martinez for the main course, a delicious chicken casserole with rice. They finished with dessert at the home of Linda Brooks and Ross Schipper. Linda presented the group with a flaming baked Alaska.
  • In March, 9 members met at the home of Monique Wedderburn for a lovely pot luck dinner. Monique prepared a main dish of shrimp and scallops with a luscious sauce along with rice and mushrooms. Attendees brought wine, appetizers, asparagus, a delicious salad, and a wonderful dessert. It was a fantastic meal, and a great time was had by all.
  • In February, 10 members met at the Shanghai Lounge for a sumptuous dinner. Arranged by Betty Amato, they were the sole party in the elegant upstairs dining room, where they were served four appetizers and five main courses. The food was wonderful, and the conversation was scintillating. Unfortunately, Shanghai Lounge closed its doors and went out of business in early March. We missed that wonderful restaurant until, like the phoenix, it reappeared and now once again serves Burleith.
  • In January, 10 members met at the home of Pat Davies for a pot luck dinner.
