The Burleith Community Fund is leading a community effort to support So Others Might Eat’s annual Holiday Shoebox Gift Drive. The BCF has wanted to do this for ever, and we know many of you might already be helping SOME with its good work. The gift drive is a wonderful way to bring together all of Burleith (young and young at heart, and new and old residents) in a shared goal.

We’re asking you join in collecting shoeboxes decorated for the holidays and packing them with essential items and gifts for men, women, and children experiencing homeless or living in poverty. (Gifts are especially needed for adults.) The plan is to get together on Saturday, December 1, noon to 3 pm, to wrap and assemble boxes (drop by when you can).  If you can’t join us or need a bit more time, your completed boxes can be delivered by Thursday, December 6. The BCF will deliver the boxes to SOME by December 7, so that they can be given out or delivered over the holidays to all who come to SOME for meals and services.

Do This! Right Now! Email Kay at bcf@burleith.org and say yes to participating! We will send you more details, including the location of the wrap party.
