Gløgg, Scandinavia’s variant of mulled wine, basically consists of hot red wine with spices and a dash of some kind of spirit, e.g. whiskey, brandy, or aquavit. Written gløgg in Norway or Denmark and glögg in Sweden, this drink has a long history, dating back to the early Middle Ages, around the 4th century AD. Gløgg parties are common winter activities among Scandinavians, when they often gather at home to drink gløgg with good friends when it is icy cold and dark outside. There are a wide variety of gløgg recipes. The one Linda and Ross use was passed down from Ross’ Norwegian grandmother.

Hot mulled cider will be available for those who would rather have a non-alcoholic drink.
